Modern Bathroom for Fast-paced Life

The existing lavish bathroom was wrapped in pink marble, floor to ceiling.  Now a shower enclosure, there used to be a high tub.  The floor was extremely slippery and the high tub wall made bathing an even more risky experience.  My client wanted to redesign her bathroom to turn it into a safe and practical space, with clean lines – similar to a mini spa.  To achieve this we removed the tub, had the entire floor dug out, and slanted it towards the center of the shower where the water would evacuate.  The floor was resurfaced with modern, non slippery, grey Italian ceramics. For the shower partition wall, we used glass blocks to lighten up the dividing wall, ending it three feet below the ceiling. At this level, we ran a white, grey-green, and beige glass mosaic along the border to visually tie the glass block partition to the walls.

A small bench was built to fit the stall, and on the wall facing the shower a skinny wall-mounted radiator was installed to warm up the room and towels.  The comma-shaped sink is silvered and bears a glass top with an aluminum wash basin. The new bathroom interior is a symphony of white and soft grey, with a linear and relaxing design. It is easy to circulate in it and safe to perform one’s ablutions.
